Welcom Home Natascha, Good Riddance Kidnapper

Wednesday was a day of great emotion in Austria. Emotions of joy, relief, amazement, anger and confusion all rolled into one.

Wednesday, August 23, 2006, Natascha Kampusch, who had been kidnapped at age 10, was finally discovered in a garden outside of Vienna after escaping her captor. This is an amazing story of a sheer will to live.
Kampusch disappeared on her way to school in Vienna. While investigators embarked on a massive man hunt, there hadn't been a trace of the girl since her kidnapping. She was apparently held in a cramped car service pit -- used by mechanics to access the underside of cars -- under a garage in the Austrian town of Strasshof.
