Andy Card Resigns as Chief of Staff

Chief of Staff Andy Card has resigned, and he will be replaced by Josh Bolten. Andy has been with the president since the first day of his presidency. There have many people moaning that President Bush needed to shake up his staff and bring in some new blood.

Andy brought up the suggestion that he step down a while back, but the president did not quickly accept his resignation. After this last weekend at Camp David, President Bush finally decided to accept Andy's offer.

Josh Bolton was the director of the Office of Management and Budget for three years prior to being asked to succeed Mr. Card.

He made a very nice acceptance speech at 5:30 am PCT. Many in the White House and the country will miss Andy Card. Thank you for your service to the president and in turn, to all of us. Farewell Andy, and welcome Joshua Bolton.
