Bush Chooses Judge Sam Alito
Today, Monday, President Bush has nominated Judge Sam Alito to be on the Supreme Court. The Democrats already have their fangs out, while the Conservatives are happy.
Judge Alito has been on the 3rd District Court of Appeals since 1990. He has a nickname of "Scalito" and "Scalia-lite." He is a polite, reserved and even-tempered man. He is a former prosecutor and government attorney who has argued 12 cases before the Supreme Court.

Wasting no time, Alito went to the Capitol shortly after the announcement to meet Senate leaders. Accompanied by two of his children and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Alito paused first to pay his respects at the coffin of the late civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks in the Capitol rotunda.
