Dirty Bomb Terror suspect Padilla trial to start

MIAMI -- An unusually large group of 3,000 Miami-area residents will be the starting point for jury selection in the highly publicized terrorism support trial next year of alleged al-Qaida operative Jose Padilla and two others.
U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke said Thursday that jury duty letters will go out in mid-November to start a process that will ultimately produce 12 jurors and several alternates to try the case, currently scheduled to begin Jan. 22. It has been a long time in coming. Jose will get his day in court next year, 2007.
